When I first started writing content (rather than sales copy) a lot of my clients didn't understand the value and I wasn't great at explaining it even though I knew it was important. Embarrassingly, I once described it to someone as: "It's like your electricity... It's essential but no-one wants to pay the bill..." 18 months on and I'm a lot better at explaining it! I think you need to go through that stumbling process of describing what you do.
