This is a short post because I gave myself 90 minutes to get it done and then spent the last 75 minutes checking out some fantastic content over at the Third Tribe, namely a seminar between Laura Roeder and Sonia Simone about creating your own fame. (Laura’s course of the same name is full now but you can join the waiting list here for when it reopens).
So, I’ve been wanting to do a giveaway for a while because after the cool feedback on the Copywriting Phrasebook, I’ve got plans for a bigger product which Naomi Dunford told me needs to be launched around the first week of November. After then we’re screwed because everyone then hibernates. (Screwed how she didn’t exactly say but I believe her).
I didn’t want to do another launch so quick after the last one, and thought you would forgive me if I buffer it by giving something away in between. So, welcome to…
The “Two Fingers Up to Hibernation” Copywriting Giveaway.
Everything tends to wind down in winter. Just ask my pet ladybird Barbara who ate all the aphids from my Parsley and then hasn’t moved in two weeks. (Mum assures me she’s just hibernating).
Traditionally, unless you sell crackers or Christmas trees, business gets very quiet at this time and you too might feel like crawling away somewhere cool and dark to emerge in the spring time.
I want to encourage you NOT to do that.
Which is why I’m running a competition to give away some free copywriting so you can have something created and save the holiday fund in doing so.
The winner will receive ONE of the following:
- A 5-part auto-responder series (up to 300 words per email)
- 1 x sales page (up to 1,000 words)
- 2 x web pages written (up to 450 words each)
- 5 pages of worksheets to accompany a current audio / video product
Whatever you choose, it will be valid for 6 months, so you don’t have to use it now, you can wait and use it to get you kickstarted in the New Year.
The rules are simple:
- Write in the comments any plans you have for your business or blog in the next few months that you’re really excited about.
- Tweet this post.
- Closing date is Sunday 24th October
- Winner will be announced Monday 25th October
Good luck, I’ve managed to finish this in 30 minutes and now I’m going to publish this and go for a walk before I can change my mind.
Looking forward to meeting more of you and working with the winner!
Now go comment, and tweet!
Les Warren says
I will launching a series of seminars for small businesses and organizations giving them the basics of marketing on the web and strategies to do this for little or no money. I think the internet is very empowering and I want to help as many people get on the web as possible, whether they have a lot of money to spend or not (I own a web development company). I live in a rural area and generally business is a little depressed in these areas, but the internet can change that.
Of course I will get paid for the seminars, but what people will learn will offset this small cost – without a doubt. It may also generate a lead or two for my company, but I am doing this independent of that.
I am also publishing a report as a giveaway with the seminar that I can later make available.
This all came about from a project where I helped a local historian start a blog to publish some local history he had spent years researching, which lead to me consulting with other people on the use of free web tools.
I also blog on technical issues related to a web application I work with, these blogs are at http://s7mediadesign.com/s7-blog.aspx and http://leswarren.blogspot.com/. The latter blog is becoming more generalized in its approach.
harrisonamy says
Hi Les, pleased to meet you and it’s lovely to have you hear and to learn about your projects. I come from a very small village up north and I know how businesses can be affected at the moment, and how powerful the Internet can be to reach out to new customers.
Sounds like an interesting plan and I wish you the best of luck with this and the giveaway! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Eugen Oprea says
Hi Amy,
So nice of you to offer your services as a giveaway.
Currently I am working on a free eCourse which should help people get started with Google Analytics and learn how to read their reports.
Following this, I am planning to take LaVonne’s Customer Love Challenge when I want to have a guest posting marathon and launch an eBook before the end of November.
Even if I will pass the first two weeks, I really want to get the eBook out of the door this year, so this is my last chance.
Fingers crossed to finish everything I am up to. Thanks again for your offering.
Eugen
harrisonamy says
Hey Eugen,
Can’t wait for that Google Analytics course – I haven’t a clue when it comes to things like that! Sonds like you’ve got a lot of writing ahead of you in Novmber, remember to take a break won’t you. 🙂
Thank you so much for entering and best of luck!
Lisa says
Hey, Amy! I’m doing some re-branding work on my business, which means new services, auto-responders, new copy for every page of my site, etc. etc. etc.! It’s a lot of work, but I’m pumped about it. 🙂
harrisonamy says
Hello Lisa,
Changing with the seasons eh? That’s exciting and it’s great to hear you psyched about it. the best work is the kind that gets the blood pumping and the creative juices flowing. Good luck with it all!
VP says
Hi – I’m a complete newcomer here, but just about to dip my toe into setting up a blogging/copywriting service for local businesses, so I signed up to your newsletter to help the learning curve rise more gently 😉
I haven’t even got a website yet, the idea’s that new, so I bet you can guess which part of your giveaway would be really useful!
Good luck to everyone who’s entered.
harrisonamy says
Hey VP, A fellow copywriter – that’s awesome and congrats for dipping your toe. It’s an exciting step. 🙂
It’s a pleasure to have you on the newsletter, and if there’s any subjects you’d like covered to help you get started, just let me know.
good luck with the giveaway!
Cassandra says
@Tzaddi, glad you like the term worminar, I do too. It’s a good way to get people asking questions.
Tzaddi says
Everyone is up to such great stuff. I love Cassandra’s “worminar” term. Go, everyone!
I’m working on a new service package to launch just before the “you’re screwed” part of the year, so I’m a busy bee designing and developing and writing for all that. In the next while I also need to revamp the copy on my website because some of the key messages aren’t as aligned as they could be.
harrisonamy says
Hello Tzaddi!
Good luck withthe service package, just read your blog and I can totally relate to the common thread theme. Looking at the comments here, I’d be honoured to work with each and every person. All from totally different niches and industries but with a shared passion for their work and helping others.
Warmness and fuzziness all around.
Good luck and thank you so much for stopping by!
Cassandra says
Hey, great giveaway! My plans for the next chunk of time include: a very special “worminar” about worm composting on Nov 6, migrating my organic gardening site from sbi to self hosted wordpress, writing a free e-book on wormcomposting to give away and use feedback from that book and the worminar to write a paid version. And oh yeah, write the raised bed gardening book too (just saw my feed below).
harrisonamy says
Hiya Cassandra,
“Worminar” is my new favourite word. And the 20 minute garden sounds like the kind of thing I could do with (if i had a garden) i’m up to an indoor tomato plant and some parsely, and for me that is leaps and bounds (a previous boyfriend bought me a cactus instead of flowers as he said it was the only thing I couldn’t kill…)
Best of luck with the giveaway!
Geoff Farnsworth says
Hi Amy,
I’m updating my site (VitalRelationships.com) and launching a membership site in November.
I’m also excited about doing a web site makeover for a non profit I’m helping out. (www.startingpoint.org) They help a lot of people and I’d like them to develop an effective web presence for them.
Good luck with your new venture.
Geoff
harrisonamy says
Hi Geoff, it’s great to see you here, and lovely to have you signed up to the Harrisonamy inner circle newsletter as well!
I’ve just read your recent blog and have to say I can sometimes “listen to fix!” Will be practising that today. 🙂
Starting Point also seems like a very worthy cause so I wish you lots of luck. 🙂
satara says
Hi Amy,
I would love to be considered for this giveaway! I am working with my graphic designer now to get my website set up. I have developed 6 whimsical and child friendly characters named Grinkle Rock..”pint-sized heroes on a global giving mission”
Our tagline(above) and our goal is to transform the world by teaching children that Giving Really Is Noble Kind Loving and Extraordinary!
harrisonamy says
Hi Satara!
What a wonderful ethos and a noble mission. Giving really is extraordinary and I usually try and give away something whenever I feel I’m focusing too much on “what can I gain?”
Kind of the reason I did this giveaway actually, and it’s been the kind of lovely experience that has made me think how amazing it is to give. Good luck with it all!
Christine Martell says
I have plans for a new strategic visioning product, an online toolset so people can work with our visual images online, and a whole new product line for coaches and counselors. Might be a little unrealistic? It’s hard to do all the development and all the wriitng/launching/speaking it takes to get it all out there!
Oh, and I forgot, I want to get a bunch more artwork done. Silly me.
Lovely contest you are doing Amy. Generous and thoughtful as always.
harrisonamy says
Hey Christine – I’ve just been on to your website and what you’re doing sounds absolutely fascinating. I’ve always been a word junkie, but I do love how images can unlock the other parts of our brain with things like mind mapping and I’d love to see more of what you’re doing.
As for unrealistic? More like fantastically ambitious!
Good luck. 😉
Rachel Mathews says
Wow Amy, that is a fantastic giveaway! Are we really screwed if we don’t get our products out the door by 1st week November? Yikes!
My plans are writing a series of articles to help people choose the right plants for their garden, then release ‘The Perfect Planting Plan’ Homestudy course end of Nov in time for the Christmas present market.
harrisonamy says
I was told that after that first week, getting people to buy can be very tricky, unless of course you have an amazing xmas gift product like “The Perfect Planting Plan” 😉
Thanks for entering Rachel, and best of luck!
Rachel Mathews says
Well thank goodness for that then! 🙂
Tessa Shepperson says
Hi Amy
My new Landlord Law web-site is hopefully launching in a few weeks (we have been saying that for a while, but now I do really think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel) so some of your lovely copywriting to help with the marketing pages would be really good.
In return I would do a write up of my experience in using a copywriter, in my Solicitors Online Blog, which may give you a bit more publicity (its nice to exchange things I think).
harrisonamy says
Hello Tessa, always wonderful to see your face in these here parts!
Glad to hear you’re seeing the light (it does feel like we’re stuck underground launching these things doesn’t it?). I’ve no doubt it will be a super valuable resource.
And thank you for the offer of a write up in return! Best of luck and thank you for tweeting. 🙂
Sarah Arrow says
Great Idea Amy, and the copywriting book was great – I use it all the time.
My next project is a book, a real hold in your hands book. I have 3 weeks in December to write it – gah! I love a challenge…
Hope it goes well for you – the comp that is.
harrisonamy says
Super to hear that the phrasebook is coming in handy. Am working on a starter kit for web and sales copy for businesses as my next project. Hopefully another “keep to dip in and out of” thing.
Hurray for the crazy writing goal! Let us know when it’s in your hands (oh, and thanks for pointing out the extra A – I’ve fixed it now 😉 )
Jill Chivers says
hi Amy — I always hesitate before submitting my entry for these free things, because I read other people’s entries/comments and think: well, THEY need it, too and I should just cut out some of the competition!
But here I am…. My plans are to make Shop Your Wardrobe epicly huge. I’m aiming for 100 subscribers by the end of the year (already one-fifth the way there). If I gave voice to my truly secret dreams, it would be to host a TV show on how women can tap into the hidden mileage in their own wardrobes and break the cycle of unconscious and compulsive shopping. To take back their power on knowing how to dress themselves and not be so lured into fashion messages about what we “should” be wearing.
Any one of your products would help me craft more articulate and compelling messages around that….
Great offer – very generous. Thank you for putting it out there!
harrisonamy says
Jill, every time I step into my wardrobe (please note – it’s not a walk in wardrobe, it’s the funny little entrance to my flat where I cram my clothes) I just about always think of you and your “Shop Your Wardrobe” project!
Am excited for you to see where you take it, and I know you’ve got a fierce passion for helping others with it.
Thanks so much for your comment and good luck. 🙂
Dr Dean says
I am in the middle of finishing up a basic personal finance course, that will be hosted online. Would love the help with the copy on the sales pages/video promotions.
Launch to start before the dead time you mentioned so working hard right now.
Thanks from a fellow 3Ter…
harrisonamy says
Hey Dr. Dean, nice to see you on the blog and fished out of the spam filter (sorry about that!)
Loving “The Millionaire Nurse” name and it’s always cool to meet another 3Ter!
Good luck with the giveaway and with all your hard work that you’re doing now. 🙂
Marian Schembari says
Hells yes!!! I could totally do with any one of these prizes, I’m so happy you’re doing a giveaway! How lovely and generous 🙂
Anyway, I recently launched a service called Critique My Profile (horrible name, I know) where I do a video consulting session with clients to improve their Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn presence. The copy is… meh. I wrote it myself but I’m not the greatest writer on the planet.
So I’m revamping it. I’m redoing the whole service and upping my prices and doing a bunch of guest posts to promote it, but if the copy is shit I know it’s not going to do so well. I’m super excited about relaunching and your giveaway couldn’t come at a more perfect time!!
I’m also putting together an eBook, but that probably won’t be ready until 2011, but I’m still pumped!!!
Am tweeting now and hope I win!
harrisonamy says
Marian!
I’ve seen your Twitter critique and watched your video – what you do is really good, it made me go back and check out my own Twitter page, and I’ll be putting your advice to good use!
Am looking forward to the relaunch, and seeing more guest posts by you.
Tweet away my dear and good luck!
Darren Scott Monroe says
Hey Amy my 3T sister great idea!
I got a chance last month to spend several days with Motivational speakers Bob Proctor, Les brown, and internet extraordinaire Frank Kern. It confirmed my direction. You see earlier this year i pulled all of my personal products in the hopes of relaunching a new line.
I am launching (3) series online and a mega list of products.
The 1st series will cover personal development for online entrepreneurs.
The 2nd series is for methodical beginners to intermediate online entrepreneurs.
The 3rd series is advanced strategies for online entrepreneurs.
The first set s to each are coming out in a few days to weeks but there are more to follow because its (3) series.
harrisonamy says
Hey Darren – thanks for the comments (and the RTs!).
Sounds like you had quite an inspiring few days there, and like you’ve come back with a whole head full of ideas. Sometimes you just need to be round the right people to give you a boost and some direction.
I’m excited for you.
good luck!
Darren Scott Monroe says
Indeed I did and either way thank you for the opportunity. Great contest.
Ryah Albatros says
Hello Amy! I’m a new visitor and will be hanging around in future.
Information Junkies Anonymous is currently #2 and #3 on Google for the keyword phrase information junkies. I want that #1 spot. I also want the Safe Haven forum to grow and become a great resource for those of us paralyzed by all the information thrown at us in the world of making money online/internet marketing.
My plans include:
Becoming expert in content curation; finding the best information for my readers, to give them what they need.
Writing reviews of information products to help readers choose wisely and not throw money around willy-nilly.
Offering support to people just starting out on the journey of making money online, and help them to make sense of it all.
Providing a safe haven to offer brainstorming and feedback on ideas, to help people realise their goals.
A lot of work, but I know I can do it if I just take my own advice and get on with it!
harrisonamy says
Hey Ryah,
As someone who still faces the information overwhelm, I think what you’re doing will be a welcome resource to seasoned bloggers / biz owners and not just those starting out. Sounds like you’ve got a project you’re really passionate about there which is great to see.
Good luck with the giveaway and hope to see you in these parts again soon! 🙂
Henri says
Crazy cool!
My blog is about to hit its one year anniversary, so I have a re-design in the works in a few months.
I’m building something called The Wake Up Vault, where I interview experts, release free guides, reports, and worksheets, all for my subscribers.
I’m also going to pull in all of my products (from salespages outside of my blog), so they’re all in the same place. That place will be called the Wake Up Guides.
There’s a lot going on, and my blog is going from caterpillar to butterfly. From a blog to a business.
Your help would be the icing on the cake. It would make it all so much sweeter, and of course, much more awesome.
Keep rocking! 🙂
harrisonamy says
Pleasure to meet you Henri and thanks for stopping by to enter the giveaway.
I love the idea of The Wake up Vault, sounds like a good kick of inspiration. 🙂 I’m also going to take a peek at your passon blogging guide as well. 🙂
Good luck!
Mark Dykeman says
Hi Amy. This is a great contest/giveaway that you are doing.
I just launched my first info product and I’m in the middle of planning several more over the next year or so. I’m looking forward to doing online or audio consulting with people who want to develop their ideas into tangible results. I’ve been piloting the consulting end of things but I plan to kick it up a notch going forward.
Thanks for offering this giveaway!
harrisonamy says
Now then Mark, lovely to have you drop by. Congratulations on the success of your info product and even more congratulations on your future plans – sounds like you’re really ramping things up for 2011. We’ll be seeing great things from you I’m sure!
Best of luck with the giveaway! (Also – I love your last blog post!)
Deb Pang Davis says
Definitely agree with Amy on that last blog post. LOL.
Deb Pang Davis says
Awesome idea and glad you took a walk so you didn’t change your mind 🙂
This giveaway couldn’t come at a more perfect time!
I have big plans for my website/business/blog in the next few months! New landing pages, more blog posts and brainstorming packages, products, etc. I’m so excited! I’m actually planning a big break from work in about 4 weeks to just focus on “moi”.
I’m actually thinking about also merging with my husband’s business and take over the world – lol!
I’m actually in Laura’s Creating Fame course now and I just needed that extra confirmation that I’m headed in the right direction. (So for anyone thinking about signing up for Creating Fame – go put your name on the wait list – even if you think you might know it all because its a great refresher too!)
Ok, time to go tweet tweet!
harrisonamy says
Hey Deb, it’s great to see you here! Your website is beautifully designed. It sounds like you have many an exciting thing to be focused on with your business, and a break for some “me” time also sounds perfect.
Thanks for entering the giveaway and best of luck!
