Welcome to another episode of Content Marketing… Stripped! In this video we look at how even valuable, useful content is often overlooked and undervalued.
If you want your reader to take notice of your words (and also take action) then you want to make sure you’re not making these mistakes.

This is just a quick post as I’m writing it before I have to check out of the hotel. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity of running a 2 day client workshop in Bucharest on writing engaging content online (so much fun!)
So, to summarise the video:
Whenever you have instructions you want your reader to follow, make sure that…
1. They’re aware of what happens if they DON’T take your advice
We’re not talking about scaring them into action (although there is a reason fear is used in marketing). But highlighting the frustrations they will still face without you is persuasive.
For example:
How many more days or weeks do you want to get up in the morning, groggy and irritable after another sleepless night with chronic back pain?
Or, you can go the other way and…
2. Remind them of the good things that happen if they follow your call to action:
Join our public speaking class and know that the next time you face a crowd you’ll have the power to make them laugh, cry and hang on your every word.
And last but not least, unlike the no smoking signs in an aeroplane… right next to the ashtray…
2. Don’t make your call to action confusing
Select package one today, or choose between packages 2 and 3 if you want the option of upgrading your packages at a later date and adding more modules into them. Modules not taken can be refunded on a pro-rata basis, but only on package 3, not on package 2.
Huh?
That’s all for today! Let me know how you get your calls to action to stand out and I will see you soon.
